Is she really that self-focused or just sad?

When people withdraw from their friends and family and take up a serious running routine it can indicate they have emotional issues. From what I’ve witnessed, when a member of a married couple takes up marathon and other long distance running it can suggest that there are problems in the relationship that could lead to divorce. I think of this when I watch this new ad from Nike where a young woman runs away from it all. I understand that the creatives are trying to paint a picture of independence in the ‘Never Stop Running’ ad – but I end up feeling sad for the young woman.

What do you think?
