Makers of the classic folding bike have revealed their “Project X” bike, which is electric while still foldable. Few details about the foldable eBrompton are currently known, but it is supposed to go on sale in Germany and the U.K. next year, and worldwide in 2013.

Designed by PiMobility founder Marcus Hays, this hybrid/electric bike is equipped with PiFi, an embedded wireless technology that enables the bike to sync with the rider’s smartphone. The bike sends information about its battery health, battery charging frequency, motor and controller experience, and more. This information is useful for maintenance, as well as theft recovery.
