Uptake is a travel start-up company based in California, USA. Previously, the online website aggregated information from more than 5,000 websites to bring you travel information that’s relevant to your query. Recently, it has included a Facebook function where it would mine through your friends to find those who can help answer your travel questions.

Yen Lee, CEO of Uptake, stated that other trip advice companies don’t personally answer travel questions, whereas Uptake’s Facebook model works by the motto that “friends don’t leave friends hanging.” Once Uptake identifies your friends who have been to the specified location using patent-pending ‘destination mining’ technology, you can select which friends to ask what question.

According to Lee, Uptake currently has 4 million unique visitors every month and claims to have the largest library of vacation experiences in the U.S.
