Just in time for Christmas, giant retailers Sears and Kmart have deployed ‘mobile shopping walls’ to turn high-traffic areas into large catalogs. These walls feature top-selling toys from Sears and Kmart and provide QR codes so that customers can easily scan the barcode and purchase the item directly on their smartphone. Currently the shopping walls have been seen in airports, malls, movie theaters and bus shelters across the U.S.

Julia Fitzgerald, Chief Digital Engagement Officer of toys and sporting goods for Sears Holdings, commented that:

Our mobile shopping walls are not only convenient because of their unexpected locations, but they offer easy shipping options as well. Our goal is to make holiday shopping so simple that customers can find the perfect gift while they are traveling or going about their daily lives, and have them waiting at their doorstep when they arrive home.
