The deal-loving social media character tweets advice and responds to comments to promote the retailer’s 2-day sale.
For Target’s two-day Black Friday sales event, the retailer has turned to the holiday superfan ‘Christmas Champ’ for the third year. The enthusiastic shopper (portrayed by comedian Maria Bamford) has proved very popular with consumers and for Target’s 2011 campaign, which runs through to November 24th, consumers can follow @ChristmasChamp on Twitter to read lots of content and advice. Target’s senior producer of media production, Jessica Carlson, said:
She’ll be tweeting new digital ads and content with tips for shopping on Black Friday, as well as interacting directly with fans by responding to their comments.
This year, there will be more tweets and interaction with followers. The Christmas Champ will present videos to consumers with tips on how to make the most of the sales, such as “Visualize Your Path,” “Use a Utility Belt”, “Check the Weather” and “Make a List & Check it Thrice.” The campaign includes five broadcast spots, five digital spots and more than 20 pieces of online content that will be seeded via social media.
