Bud Light Offers Correspondent Luxury Accommodations And Access To Super Bowl Parties

By Alice Chan on December 22, 2011

American brewing company, Anheuser-Busch, is launching a contest to seek out a special correspondent for the Super Bowl this year. The Bud Light Hotel correspondent will cover Super Bowl XLVI from a 180-room hotel in downtown Indianapolis, star in a series of exclusive videos for the brand’s Facebook and YouTube pages, and conduct red carpet interviews and gain access to the EA Sports and Playboy parties at the hotel. Fans can apply by uploading a 30-second video of themselves on Bud Light’s Facebook Page through January 20th.  Candidates will be evaluated by the number of ‘Likes’ they receive and a special judging panel. Mike Sundet, senior director of Bud Light, says the idea was to give fans an unparalleled experience:

We want to make it all about the fans. We didn’t want to make it a corporate deal.

The adaptation of using social media to recruit new talent and further developments in brand ambassador strategies have been prevalent for sports-oriented brands. Anheuser-Busch has conducted a similar program last year in which several correspondents were chosen online.
