Movie Rental Merchant Offers Email, SMS & Facebook Gifting Options
America’s movie rental service Redbox has introduced a new gift giving feature that lets people purchase DVD rentals for friends or family at discounted prices and share them via email, SMS or Facebook. Redbox gifts are available in bundles of 5 first-night DVD rentals for $5 or 10 first-night DVD rentals for $10. Any additional DVD night rentals are $1.20 per night.
These Redbox gifts can be sent to recipients in an email message, text or to their Facebook account. After selecting a delivery method, you can also choose a gift image and add a personalized message. The gift DVD rentals can be redeemed at any of the 34,400 Redbox kiosks nationwide. Amy Gibby, vice president of marketing at Redbox, said:
Redbox has a highly engaged consumer base, allowing us to connect directly with millions of customers through Redbox-owned marketing channels, including mobile. Movies are inherently social, making mobile engagement a key component of our forward looking marketing strategy.
