Graphic designer Michael Mulvey pays homage to Steve Jobs by visualizing the quote, “A computer is like a bicycle for our minds.” The saying was candidly articulated by Jobs to demonstrate how the bicycle greatly improved the efficiency of locomotion in humans as a study in Scientific America found. Jobs believed that computers and technology can assist in accelerating our learning, just like a bicycles can do to our ability to be mobile.
Mulvey uses the Golden Section as a structure for the design, the same principal which was applied to the design of the iconic Apple logo. The end print poster is simple and yet effectively conveys the message. Just like the Apple iPhones, it comes in two colors: black or white.
Currently, the project is asking for funding on Kickstarter. With less than 16 days to go, the BFOM project has already received 112 backers but still needs just over $1,000 in order to reach its pledged goal of $4,000.
