Start-Up Online Platform Lets Travelers Book Stays & Connect With Others

Start-up InBed.me officially launched this week, offering travelers an online platform for booking a hostel or b&b to stay at and connecting with other people who will be there at the same time. The site lets them view profiles, share tips and plan activities together to make their travels more social.

InBed.me was formed in June during Start-up Weekend in New York City, where it was awarded second place. The social travel site lets users search its database of over 25,000 properties in more than 800 cities around the world. They can either sign up for a new account or use their Facebook account to sign in, which will automatically create a personal profile with some of your information. Users can control what details are shared with the community and edit their information in the ‘About Me’ section.

InBed.me will generate a list of available hostels and b&bs based on your destination and travel dates. You can then view the people who will be staying at each location and find out if you share similar hobbies and interests. The site currently has around 1,000 users and is working on adding Twitter and Foursquare integration. You can check out InBed.me’s introductory video below:
