Why New Orleans Is The New Frontier For Entrepreneurship And Innovation
NOLAbound is offering creative startups the opportunity to articulate a new narrative for the burgeoning city and its rebirth.
In mid-March, cutting edge creative business minds in the arts, biosciences, digital media, and sustainability fields will meet in New Orleans for a program that merges the city’s character with fresh and inventive entrepreneurship. Twenty five individuals will be selected for an all expenses trip – that includes airfare, transportation, meals, and room and board – that will provide them with special access to New Orleans Entrepreneur Week events, which includes the opportunity to meet with leaders in respected industries as well as an immersion in the local richness of New Orleans’s people and culture. Applications are open through this Friday, December 16, at benolabound.com.
Why New Orleans?
Both Forbes and Inc. magazines have pointed to the city as an emerging mecca for startups, and NOLAbound is intent on showcasing not only the ideas and people coming to this event, but New Orleans itself, as the city rebuilds and provides ample opportunities for merging tradition with innovation.
But what makes this event so groundbreaking?
NOLAbound is generating a story around the program. In addition to participants sharing their experiences via the program website, Twitter, Facebook, Vimeo, YouTube, and blogs, they’ll be a part of a documentary film that will show in October of next year. Thus, NOLAbound is creating a participatory story, one in which locals are asked for their input: the participant that best communicates his or her impressions of the city and its business potential will win an all-expenses paid trip to the documentary’s premiere.
By using the power of social media and calling upon local opinion and participation, NOLAbound is bringing something unique to New Orleans that celebrates the city’s history of a rich, cultural storytelling bastion by celebrating creativity with smart business acumen.
