Acura’s New Supercar Will Be Made In The USA
The surprise reveal of the 2012 Detroit Auto Show was the unveiling of the next generation Acura NSX supercar. The previous model which ceased production in 2005 was notable for the car’s light weight and focus on integrated technology. The next iteration will follow in the same path with attention to two new areas. First, the car will be more environmentally considerate by using a high efficiency V6 engine. This means that the engineers at Acura will really have to work to keep the car light in order for the driving performance to be spirited.
Another interesting announcement is that the car will be developed and built exclusively at Honda’s Marysville plant in Ohio. Acura also is looking to increase participation in racing which could involve the upcoming NSX. The production version of the car is likely to go on sale sometime in 2014.
