Amphitheatre Bookshop Reimagines The Reading Space [Pics]

This bookshop and cafe in Bratislava, Slovakia, has been reimagined by Plural and Totalstudio to create a more flexible and interactive space for patrons. ‘Alexis’ now has wooden steps in the center of the store, which can also be used as seating for casual reading or small workshops and other events held there.

Along the sides are two huge bookshelves, which fill the length of the walls, creating an enclosed atmosphere. At the top of the steps is an elevated cafe and a storage room, office and restroom are located down a staircase in the cafe, leading below the floor. Click through to see photos of the new layout:
