Healthy Cocktail Mixers Make A Splash At San Fran Food Show

By Emma Hutchings on January 18, 2012

Healthy varieties of cocktails have been trending at this year’s Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco, which displays more than 80,000 specialty foods and beverages from companies around the world. The editors of Specialty Food Media have identified three mixers that reach out to consumers interested in low-calorie and organic products via their cocktail glasses.

Powell & Mahoney offers a number of organic cocktail mixers, including a low-calorie version of its popular Margarita mixer that is 100% all-natural and has only 20 calories per serving, yet tastes as good as the full-calorie version. Instead of cane sugar, the company uses organic agave nectar and pear juice as sweeteners.

Tres Agaves has created a shelf-stable, USDA-certified organic margarita mix made with organic agave nectar, organic lime juice and pure filtered water. These all-natural ingredients blend to create a balance of sweet and sour, and the mix is 68 calories per serving.

Gil’s Gourmet is also entering the healthy cocktail category with new flavored martini mixes in Spicy Olive Juice and Lemon Olive Juice flavors, both made with natural ingredients.
