The mantra behind ‘John’s Phone’ company is ‘keep things simple’ and this manifests with what they proudly admit is the world’s most basic mobile phone. The black gadget, which PSFK first featured in 2010, has no screen – just a number pad, a talk button and an end button. In this video, Cunning NYC staffer Lara Speier unboxes the phone and takes us through the features. The phone comes with headset, charger and sticker.
John’s Phone retails for $100 is designed by John Doe Amsterdam and manufactured in China. The website says that the gadget has no frills and no “unnecessary” features such as a camera, text messaging and an endless number of ringtones:
