DIY Youth Group Helps Aging Population Through Innovative Campaigns

UK youth program Team v has launched a campaign to reduce loneliness amongst older people by connecting with the elderly in communities, creating social events for them and raising awareness of isolation in a creative platform that integrates video, photography and social media.

This type of charitable organization is centered around community engagement and takes a DIY approach to identifying social issues, developing skills in young people and leveraging the social media and media tools well-known amongst Generation Y.

Leadership program Team v aims to activate networks of young people aged 18-25 to take on social issues in exciting and innovative campaigns for social change. These leaders are given the training and tools to recruit teams of volunteers, lead campaigns and measure their success. When they complete the program, they can apply for a scholarship to support their progression.

This Team v campaign tackles loneliness and isolation, which is said to affect 1 in 10 older people in the UK,with 50% saying TV is their main form of company. Check out the campaign video below to see what Team v leaders will be doing in their communities to help:
