By Emma Hutchings on January 3, 2012

YouTube is gamifying content discovery by introducing a new video experiment developed with Google Research. YouTube Slam invites users to find the next big viral hit as each week a new set of videos go head-to-head for your votes. There are Comedy, Cute, Music, Bizarre and Dance Slams, with the most popular videos from each category featuring on a leaderboard.

Participants can earn points for predicting which videos will be the most popular and see how they compare to other players at the end of each week. You can also subscribe to the five Slam channels to see the weekly video leaderboards.
