There has been a lot of speculation about what technology companies will do in the television space this year. Much of this has been around the prospect of Apple launching a smart TV set. Now, the Wall Street Journal says that Google has applied to provide video service to residents of Kansas City and therefore “setting the stage for the Web giant to offer a cable-TV-like package in addition to the high-speed Internet service it plans to market there later this year.” Wall Street Journal
