A new location-based startup allows users to pin additional content onto a virtual map.
Flickr and Hunch co-founder, Caterina Fake, has launched a new online venture called Pinwheel where users can leave virtual notes pinned on a map. This location-based startup idea is still currently in invite-only private beta mode, but has already generated a lot of buzz online. Pinwheel allows individuals or groups to leave public or private notes that can then be organized into sets. The note can be a tip, a joke, a fact, a memory or a photo and left for others to discover on the map.
Fake explains that:
Part of why making Pinwheel is so fun, is it’s so exploding with possibilities. It is the perfect social object. Stories, advice, jokes, diatribes, information, memories, facts, advertisements, love letters, grocery lists and manifestos can all be put into a note.
Upcoming developments for Pinwheel includes paid sponsored notes and an instant notification system. You sign up now to receive early access.
