Vehicle manufacturer Ford has come up with a smart solution to tackle the problem of entering your car when you have your hands full. By simply kicking the bumper, the trunk opens, and after you’ve stored the items, you can kick the bumper again to bring the trunk down. Ford’s calling this feature the ‘kick activated automatic tailgate.’
Ford demonstrated this feature at the Geneva Motor Show after spending six months perfecting the idea at its Human Machine Interface laboratory. The kick activated tailgate works along with the keyless entry system and it requires a human kick to open up the trunk – so backing up and hitting a wall or a car won’t set off the sensors.
