A new Dutch book called ‘The Insect Cookbook’ is exactly what the title suggests. The book includes simple and fun recipes that introduces insects to our diet. There’s chocolate muffin with worms, and mushroom risotto garnished with grasshoppers.
The author believes that bugs contain nutritional value and are a great source of protein. Marcel Dicke, a professor at Wageningen University, is optimistic about introducing insects to our diets, commenting that:
I see this as the next step towards the introduction of insects on restaurant menus in the Netherlands. I also expect people to buy the book and start cooking insects at home.
There are already a handful of restaurants in the Netherlands that use bugs in their cooking to create fun, delicious, and healthy meals.
