See Portlandia’s Hilarious Spoof Of Kickstarter [Video]

Characters on the popular sketch comedy show use the crowdfunding site to raise money for a fake music video.

You know you’re legitimate when you’re the subject of a sketch on a comedy show like Portlandia. In an episode shown earlier this year, Kickstarter is used by two characters played by Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen to raise $25,000 for a new music video. Jayde from the band “Jayde speaks Sevyn” and director Gahvin Quin make a video plea to help fund their campaign in season 2, episode 6 of the hit IFC show.

In a Q&A with Kickstarter, Armisen said that they’d received lots of emails about campaigns on the site and they had the idea to do something with Kickstarter because it was on their radar. You can watch the clip from the episode below:
