Dynamic Mapping App May Pose A Threat To Google Maps

New mapping software provides rich and interactive maps of the U.S.

UpNext provides fully searchable maps for the entire United States with its free iOS app. The vector mapping software hopes to give Google Maps a run for its money with its unique navigation features, which allow users to check out buildings, points of interest, and publlic transport in real-time. UpNext’s Danny Moon told TechCrunch:

UpNext is dynamic, Google Maps is static. Google Maps is a navigation-centric map. Its cartography geared toward navigating road networks, relegating other map details to the background. We put special emphasis on making our maps fast, highly stylized, and highly interactive. You can tap on buildings to see the businesses inside; better, you can tap on subway stations to see actual trains moving along the map with estimated arrival times (where the data is available). Making every part of the map interactive is important to us.

UpNext responds to your actions and restyles itself live, clarifying your surroundings. You can immerse, explore and navigate the fast and seamless maps, which provide rich visual detail and an interactive touch interface. You can tap on buildings to see the businesses and venues inside, explore the places around you, and get point-to-point directions for driving, public transit or walking.
