Nearly 1 In 4 U.S. Teens Has Diabetes Or Prediabetes [Headlines]

In just 10 years, the number of teens with pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes more than doubled, jumping from 9% in 1999-2000 to 23% in 2007-2008.

Although teen obesity rates, high blood pressure, and high LDL cholesterol rates have remained steady over the last decade, the number of teens affected with pre-diabetes, or type 2 diabetes, higher than average blood sugar levels, has more than doubled, now affecting nearly 1 in 4 teens. Reuters
