3D Projection Transforms Sydney Opera House Into Billowing Sails [Video]

German design collective URBANSCREEN creates a work of art called 'Lighting the Sails' for Vivid LIVE 2012, showing now through June 11th.

Vivid LIVE, a 10-day celebration of ambitious popular music within the annual Vivid Sydney festival in Australia, has commissioned the multi-award winning German design collective URBANSCREEN to create a new projected artwork. ‘Lighting the Sails’ transforms the Sydney Opera House with their reinterpretation of the sails, a standout 3D projection showing now through June 11th. The iconic building looks as if it is billowing in the night sky before larger-than-life figures appear, generating waves that reverberate across the facade. The sails then fragment to form an origami model that seems to be crushed under the weight of the night sky. Check it out in the video below:
