In a move to further socialize and gamify this year’s Olympics, geo-location service Foursquare is supporting the games by encouraging fans to get fit as they follow their favorite athletes and check out relevant venues. The partnership will provide a new, digitally evolved way for attendees to interact with athletes by learning about how they train and take care of themselves. Foursquare will also be integrated into the Olympics rewards system as they will select Olympics Foursquare badge holders to win a trip to the games. The campaign includes Olympic venue badges, tips from Olympic athletes, venue suggestions for getting more fit.
This partnership goes beyond providing Foursquare users with simple monetary benefits by getting involved with their users’ lifestyle. The Olympics this year are embracing social media wholeheartedly by creating The Olympic Athlete’s Hub. Foursquare will provide a relevant way to reward engagement and enhance coverage during the events this summer.
