Pickie is a new iPad magazine that uses social media mentions from your friends based on products you’re interested in to create a personalized shopping catalog. There are category tiles for home goods, arts, gadgets, furniture, crafts, gifts, and clothing. Once you have selected which categories and brands you are interested in, Pickie generates relevant products that have been recommended or mentioned by your friends. It does this by integrating with Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and other social sites to find out what your friends are sharing, liking, and pinning.

You can also view trending items within your chosen categories, editorial pages compiled by the Pickie team, and a Discover page that improves as it learns more about the type of products you like. Pickie is similar to Flipboard in how it uses social media to personalize content, and also leverages the popularity of Pinterest and image-based discovery. You can click on the products to view details about price, availability, and what your friends said about them. The app is due to launch on the iPad later this summer, and you can request an invite on their website for early access.
