British telecommunications company Vodafone has unveiled Booster Brolly, an interesting umbrella concept that can be your smartphone’s best friend in times when you need extra battery life or added signal in far-flung regions. Developed by Dr Kenneth Tong, the carbon fiber umbrella concept is affixed with 12 hand-stitched silicon solar cells that charge a battery stored in its handle. The handle, in turn, will charge your smartphone in roughly three hours using its USB port. Built-in antennas enable signal amplification within a meter radius. Vodafone is reportedly set to release the umbrella concept to the public at the Isle of Wight festival on June 22nd.
