‘Get Jiro!’, introduced at Comic Con, is a culinary satire about a sushi chef, with undercurrents that hint at America’s obsession with food.
Renowned chef, writer and TV star Anthony Bourdain has branched out even further with his first graphic novel, ‘Get Jiro!‘. This culinary satire, published by DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint, is a stylized send-up of food culture and society with undercurrents about America’s obsession with food.
The graphic novel, which was introduced at Comic Con, is set in a not-too-distant future L.A. and focuses on a sushi chef called Jiro. Master chefs rule the city like crime lords and people literally kill for a seat in the best restaurant. ‘Get Jiro!’ beat two Batman titles to take the #1 spot on the NY Times graphic novel bestseller list.
