Our latest Future Of Retail Report looks at the trend of Shopper Designed Deals. One manifestation of this trend can be seen in BuyaPowa, a ‘co-buying’ website where consumers join together to buy products in bulk from a manufacturer. When enough people identify a product they want at a lower price, a co-buy is posted on the website that appears for a limited amount of time.
As more people join a deal, the price drops further. BuyaPowa incentivizes customers to recruit more buyers by giving each deal for free to the person who brings in the most co-buyers, thereby ensuring the lowest prices possible. While partnered with the service, perfumer’s Chanel Les 4 Ombres Smoky Eyes PalettT was on sale for £32 but the price went as low as £28.
