Dating Service Pairs Singles With Friends Of Friends On Facebook

TheDatable ensures that ta potential mate won’t be a complete stranger.

The problem with most dating sites is that often no one you know is able to vouch for the other single person. A new matchmaking service called TheDatable hopes to reduce the risks associated with going on a date with a complete stranger. The dating site aims to pair singles with other singles that their Facebook friends would know.

The website allows singles to log in with their Facebook account and find others looking to go on a date and seeing who they’re connected with. They can also tag their friends as ‘singles’ and play matchmaker. For users that are already in a relationship, then can still login to TheDatable to “play wing” and set up dates for their single friends.

Michael Brotzman, co-founder and CTO of TheDatable, explains in an interview that “Most of your friends are already on Facebook, so by using Facebook Connect, it’s simple and quick to tag the ones you think are datable.”

Broztman also adds that:

Social will redefine the dating space in the same way it’s redefining every other market. There’s no winner yet in the social dating space. It’s a wide open field. There are lots of dating sites, but they are not leveraging social. Social is the key differentiator.
