This new type of ‘pop-up’ store actually pops out of a wall in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Architect Alan Chu designed this shop for The Gourmet Tea, which demonstrates a creative use of space. The multicolored wall, inspired by the brand’s bright packaging for its range of 35 organic tea blends, is a large plywood box that opens by popping out from the panels.
The counter of the tea shop slides forward from beneath a hatch, cupboards emerge from behind a large door, shelves can be wheeled out from one of the panels, and even the shop sign is revealed by opening a hinged flap.
