Our latest Future Of Retail Report looks at the trend of Shopper As Affiliate. One manifestation of this theme can be seen in Tesco. The international retailer is offering its Facebook fans Clubcard points in return for promoting its products on their social network. Customers registered for Tesco’s Share & Earn Facebook app can post ‘Liked’ products sold by Tesco to their Facebook wall.

If a member within their social network buys one of these shared products after clicking through the Facebook post, both the sharer and the purchaser will earn double Clubcard points for the purchase. The promotion aims at leveraging the brand’s 800,000-plus fans on Facebook by incentivizing customers to ‘share’ products in exchange for points redeemable towards discounts.
