The shift to online purchasing means that the online retail giant could overtake its competitor as early as seven and a half years from now.

The former chief executive of Asda, Andy Bond, predicts that the shift to online purchasing will mean the beginning of the end for the retail giant. Though Wal-Mart’s market value runs at $252 billion (compared to Amazon’s $106 billion), the move to online retail points to challenges ahead for the physical retail industry.
