Fashion designer Christian Louboutin recently opened his first mens-focused boutique in Manhattan’s Meatpacking district. In addition to the many iterations of spiked shoes and high end sneakers, customers will also find something unexpected yet fitting for a means-only store: a tattoo parlor.
The latest evolution in customization, this tattoo parlor will tattoo customers’ shoes instead of their bodies. Customers can choose to have their own (real) tattoos transferred onto their Christian Louboutin kicks to create the ultimate personalized pair. A digital photo of the tattoo is turned into a fitting embroidered image. For those without tattoos, never fear: the designer has created a selection to choose from.
As Louboutin explained to Women’s Wear Daily:
Tattoo is a modern language today, like a family crest. And this really fits the city of New York.
