World Centric‘s compostable toothbrush and travel case are made from the plant-based material Ingeo instead of petroleum-based plastics. The BPI certified products can be taken to a composting facility or returned to the company when they are no longer needed. They raise the question of what other products could be made from compostable materials.
According to research reports, approximately 450 million tootbrushes are landfilled every year in the Unites States. Using a compostable toothbrush shows that you care about the environment and about properly disposing of waste. With small steps like these, we can all make a big impact.
The bristles on the toothbrush aren’t compostable, so there is a notch between the head and the handle to let you easily break off the head before composting. The bristles are currently made from nylon and the company is looking at replacing them with compostable bristles.
