Medium is a new publishing tool from Twitter co-founders Evan Williams and Biz Stone that combines the features of popular web platforms with the aims of creating one ‘super’ platform.
Wired reports that the collaborative site allows users to post photos and text, and this shared content is organized in different themed “collections,” like personal stories in “This Happened to Me” and creations in “Look What I Made.” Users can ‘upvote’ items like on Reddit, with top stories appearing at the top of the page, while the layout is more image-based, like Pinterest. Williams wrote:
Lots of services have successfully lowered the bar for sharing information, but there’s been less progress toward raising the quality of what’s produced. While it’s great that you can be a one-person media company, it’d be even better if there were more ways you could work with others.
