Uniqlo’s Newest Ads Feature Life-Sized Bugs

As part of its capsule collection with streetwear designer Jun Takahashi, the Japanese megaretailer rolls a fun, insect-inspired new look book.

If you’ve ever looked at a fashion Editor’s desk, there’s one thing you’re always sure to find: look books. Stack upon stacks of nicely shot, glossily- packaged guides to next season’s cashmere sweaters or slingback heels. Unfortunately, as a side effect of this deluge of material, a lot of it goes unnoticed– either thrown out, or given to interns. So what’s a sure fire way to ensure that your newest collection doesn’t end up in the trash? (besides sending it in PDF form of course). Make sure it has an awesome hitch!

This is the appeal of Uniqlo‘s newest bug-themed look book, an eye-catchingly shot and conceptualized series of images for its upcoming collaboration with Japanese streetwear designer Jun Takahashis for his collection called Uniqlo Undercover. Shot by Tim Walker, a fashion photography super-star, and with props designed by prominent art director Rhea Thierstein, this incredibly fun and wearable collab hits stores August 31st, and has the reasonable price points of $9.90 to $199.99.
