DVF releases the footage she shot during fashion week with Google’s Project Glass specs. See the amazing result that puts the viewer right on the runway.
This week the highly influential fashion designer featured Google Glass on the runway. Glass is the highly anticipated augmented reality specs developed by Google. This unique collaboration continues as Diane von Furstenburg and Google released a film using video footage captured by the model’s eyewear.
“DVF [through Glass]“ is narrated by von Furstenberg and gives the viewer a ‘through-the-eyes’ experience of stylists, models, and the designer. The film shows pre-runway fittings backstage preparations, and walks down the runway, while showing off the recording capabilities of the glasses. The film captures the moments from a uniquely new perspective and fuses fashion and latest technology into an exciting narrative.
From a creative perspective, it’s exciting to see how Project Glass enables a collaborative or a crowdsourced filmmaking process. Glass has developed a very raw, first-person narrative and cinematic perspective. It’s reminiscent of the first-person view in much of gaming. Do you think Project Glass will become a viable filmmaking tool?
