Singer-songwriter Justin Vernon, the frontman of Bon Iver, has teamed up with longtime friend and Master Luthier Gordy Bischoff to create a baritone guitar made with original white oak wood from Bushmills Irish Whiskey Barrels. The guitar, named ‘The 1608‘, is a collaborative release for ‘Since Way Back’. This program celebrates groups of friends whose shared experiences and influences are now shaping pop culture, giving them the opportunity to develop unique pieces that reflect their passions.
The 1608 is being auctioned on eBay to benefit The Confluence Community Arts Center in support of Vernon’s hometown of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Check out the video below to see the creation of the guitar:
