Earthquake Buddy is a new mobile app that aims to save lives in the event of an earthquake by helping to locate people. You can add the contact details of four buddies and the app will pinpoint your location as soon as an earthquake of magnitude 5.5 or higher strikes and send those people an instant alert.

They will receive an automatic email showing your position on a Google map so if you are missing they can try to find you (if it is safe to do so) or contact the emergency services. Buddies can also be sent a text message, Facebook post, and tweet with the same details. Earthquake Buddy also includes useful tips for a quake and a bright torch to help guide you.
