Control The Lights & Music At Bars By Opening An RFID Bottle Cap [Video]

Control The Lights & Music At Bars By Opening An RFID Bottle Cap [Video]

Strongbow StartCap uses embedded technology to make real-world actions happen when the cider bottle's seal is broken.

Yi Chen

Strongbow is one of the world’s leading ciders and claims to have created the very first digital bottle cap called “StartCap.” The caps have a strip of RFID aluminum connected on top, that when opened, trigger various actions to take place. When scanners pick up these RFID signals, they could translate them into real-world events such as turning on the lights, playing music, or even launching fireworks.

StartCap is still a prototype but hopes to launch soon at events across Europe. Watch the promotional video below to see how the interactive digital bottle cap works.
