This concept design by Hojoon Lim proposes using laser beams at crosswalks to keep pedestrians safe. Guardian aims to improve road safety and prevent traffic accidents. Yanko Design reports that it stops humans and vehicles crossing paths at the same time.

When it’s time for people to walk, laser beams appear to warn cars not to drive through. When pedestrians shouldn’t cross the road due to oncoming traffic, the laser beams switch to appear to ‘block’ them from the sidewalk and let them know it isn’t safe.
