The holiday ad will feature the character from the classic movie, Kris Kringle, interacting with celebrities through the use of green screen technology.
This year, the Macy’s holiday campaign will feature the character of Kris Kringle from the 1947 film Miracle on 34th Street, alongside stars such as Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift. Using green screen technology and cutting-edge editing, footage from the movie (which was largely shot in the Herald Square store) has been digitally added to current day scenes featuring celebrities.
The “Another Miracle on 34th Street” commercial was created in partnership with JWT New York, Twentieth Century Fox, and special effects house Framestore. Martine Reardon, Macy’s CMO, said:
‘Miracle on 34th Street’ has been a defining moment in Macy’s storied history since the film first delighted audiences in 1947. For decades, we have cherished and embraced the legacy of this wonderful film which along with our incredible Thanksgiving Day Parade has truly helped define the holiday season. Thanks to our special partnership with Twentieth Century Fox, we are able to bring the magic of Miracle to new audiences, in a unique, funny and heartwarming spot that will have millions more believing in the spirit of the season.
