Instead of having a chair and a bookshelf, this all-in-one ‘Bookworm’ features shelving and a place to sit.
Dutch design firm Atelier 010’s ‘Bookworm‘ surrounds the reader with their books, wrapping around to create a seamless piece of furniture. Instead of having a separate reading chair and bookcase, this combines the two and also features a lamp suspended from the top, providing direct reading light.
Gizmag reports that the Bookworm’s curved shape is created by thin layers of MDF and flexible plywood, which can be painted in different colors. It is self-supporting, with a stainless steel leg attached to one side, and is composed of three parts that are mounted on-site.
