Instead of listening to music through earbuds while you ski or snowboard, this new helmet from the Swedish sporting goods company POC incorporates Beats by Dr. Dre headphones into the actual design. The Receptor BUG Communication helmet, one of POC’s most popular models, is now exclusively offered with the headphones built into the neck roll.
It has a remote control and microphone (compatible with most smartphones), that lets you adjust the volume, switch songs, and take calls right from the 1.3m cord that snakes from the helmet to your phone. This saves you from the discomfort of wearing earbuds under a regular helmet, and means you don’t need to fumble around with your gloves on to find your phone or music player.
The helmet also has a ventilated double-shell system and EPS liner. Available in January, it costs around $330, and if you already have a POC Receptor helmet you can purchase the soft padded neck roll separately for $180.
