Gourmet food supplier Beverly Hills Caviar has introduced a way to open their luxury products up to the general public.
Gourmet food supplier Beverly Hills Caviar has introduced a series of high-end vending machines in three Los Angeles malls. It usually only operates in appointment-only speciality store, but hopes the new machines will open their hard-to-find products up to the public.
The vending machines, which are located in the Topanga Westfield Mall, Century City Mall, and Burbank Town Center, contain 24 kinds of caviar as well as other speciality items like escargot and white truffle oil. Gizmag reports that there is Imperial River Beluga caviar (which costs $500 per ounce), vegan caviar made with seaweed, and a red salmon caviar especially for cats and dogs. The machines also sell luxury mother of pearl dishes and spoons.
The vending machines’ temperature, lighting, moisture, and oxygen levels are all monitored, and the gourmet food comes chilled in an insulated box. As the machines contain around $50,000 worth of products when full, they are built like a safe and feature three security cameras.
