Swiss conceptual car design company – Rinspeed has created a revolutionary electric car so compact that passengers will have to stand upright inside the vehicle. Designed by Frank M. Rinderknecht, the “microMAX” is a blend of personal and public transportation that will make its first appearance at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The 12.8-feet long vehicle offers space for the driver, three passengers, and even a stroller or shopping cart. microMAX’s unique upright seats are equipped with safety belts while offering a comfortable and space-efficient ride inside the 7.2-feet tall cabin. Best of all, the microMAX comes equipped with a coffee maker, refrigerator, and unlimited gadgets connectivity. Rinderknecht’s modern car is based off the idea of ride-sharing, as he explains below:

microMAX aims to encourage potential passengers to get in and ride because it is extremely convenient and simple. And every passenger decreases CO2 emissions and costs – even the number of traffic jams falls.

There are also plans to develop an app that works along with the vehicles to help passengers find the closest ride in real time:

Modern ride share centers nowadays are web-based or Smartphone-based. They operate in real time: You need to go to work on a regular basis or want to go somewhere right now and in no time at all you find the driver that’ll give you a ride. microMAX with its unique upright seats is the perfect ‘thing’ for swift short-distance transfers – the car to go with the app.
