Instagram For Movies Turns Short Clips Into Music Videos

Smule's new app, Strum, is described adds filters to moving images.

Strum is a new audio app from Smule that is able to turn any 15-second video clip into an instant music video. The app can be described as the Instagram for videos, and comes with over 20 different filters. Each filter sets the tone and genre for the video, for example, a mellow love song might use the Angels filter, while an edgy rock song would use Unplugged.

CEO of of Smule, Prerna Gupta, explained to Mashable that, “Video is infinitely more expressive than photos. One of the things that makes video more powerful is the audio content. Video makes audio better, the opposite is also true.”

Strum is available to download for free in the iTunes App Store, while in-app purchases include festive filters like Xmas Joy, Xmas Jingle, and Xmas Wish. Watch the video below for a demonstration:
