MeterPlug shows the real cost of your appliances by measuring consumption and sending the info to your smartphone.
We all know we’re supposed to turn the lights off when we leave the room, but how much of a financial impact could it make? MeterPlug shows your energy consumption in something everyone can understand: dollar signs. It plugs in between any appliance and the AC outlet, and sends data about its energy consumption via Bluetooth to your smartphone.
MeterPlug will tell you how much actual money an appliance is costing you when you run it and when it’s on standby, so you can use this information to lower your electricity bill. The app for iOS and Android displays this amount in your local currency, and shows you real-time data like the cost last hour, day, week, month, etc.
It also allows you to program an automatic “Turn Off” function for an appliance on standby when it detects that the appliance is consuming power. You can set it to turn off when you walk away and turn back on when you return, or manually turn on or off any appliance connected to MeterPlug within a 100 foot range. You can pre-order a U.S., European or British MeterPlug on Indiegogo for $45. Check out the video below to learn more:
