Fashion designer Alexander Wang has become the latest creative figure to partner with a technology company. Previously, Polaroid named Lady Gaga creative director of speciality products and Intel hired Will.i.am as its director of creative innovation.
Now Wang will design a limited edition bag for Samsung. The bag’s design will be inspired by sketches and photos produced by a group of stylists and photographers using the Samsung Galaxy Note II.
It will be available in select Alexander Wang boutiques and the website this summer, with proceeds being donated to NYC charity ArtStart. Wang told WWD:
I am most inspired by my everyday life and the people that surround me, so the idea of a co-creation with the people that I admire and respect the most is very exciting. This collaboration represents a new way that technology and style can come together. And, through a concerted effort, I am happy to be a part of supporting such a great charity as ArtStart that embraces creativity and art in a way that can change lives.
